Sue Manning - Training Director

Sue Manning has been a highly respected teacher of secondary aged students over the course of twenty one years, from inner parts of densely populated London to outer parts of rural Cambridgeshire, with stunning results. Although her academic specialisms are in English and Drama, Sue studied Home and Family studies for her post-graduate Diploma in Education at the University of South Bank.

Within her last teaching post as ‘Director of Study’, Sue had several areas of responsibility at senior management level – one being student welfare. She was also Designated Teacher for Child Protection over the course of eight years.

It was with this wealth of experience, that Sue moved into an advisory teacher role with flagship Education Child Protection Service for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. Sue’s main brief has been training teachers, head teachers, governors, under eight’s workers, learning support assistants etc., in child protection – and related issues. During this time, she sat on Cambridgeshire’s A.C.P.C. Procedures Sub-Committee, and represented the voice of education in re-writing Cambridgeshire’s procedures in line with the government initiative ‘Working Together to Safeguard Children’. Sue also sat on Huntingdon’s Domestic Violence Forum and was part of a team that travelled around the county promoting good practice in dealing with bullying issues in schools today.

Sue currently provides all the child protection training across Hertfordshire for the ‘Young in Herts’ partnership plus London Borough of Enfield’s schools – both to designated level. She is an A.C.P.C. multi-agency trainer for Cambridgeshire and an Investigating Officer for complaints against Social Services. Until very recently, Sue was Chair of Governors of a large Cambridgeshire primary school.

The experience detailed above has allowed Sue Manning the widest possible understanding of the current education system – as a student, parent, teacher, advisor, trainer and governor. She currently lives in Bassingbourn, Hertfordshire – with her husband and two sons. Sue’s hobbies include theatre, travel, food and skiing!
