All children are introduced to CEOP and how they can support them if online issues arise, the ‘Think-U-Know’ education programme, both CEOP websites and the ‘Click CEOP’ button.

  • Sessions include the following at an age appropriate level:
  • Introduction of CEOP and their work
  • Online Safety films relevant for age range
  • Clarification of personal information including privacy settings of relevant games and apps
  • Effects of Cyber-bullying.
  • Recognition of the ‘grooming process’
  • Understanding of how to report concerns online

Online Safety for SECONDARY SESSIONS

Young People in Secondary School age

DURATION
45 – 60 minute sessions across a day

This presentation will provide staff with the most up to date, digital insight into games and apps that pupils are using today. It will focus on the relevant challenges the internet poses towards our pupils i.e. sharing, chatting, playing and ‘friendships’.

Through an exploration of:

  • Content: being exposed to illegal, inappropriate or harmful material; for example pornography, fake news, racist or radical and extremist views;
  • Contact: being subjected to harmful online interaction with other users; for example commercial advertising as well as adults posing as children or young adults; and
  • Conduct: personal online behaviour that increases the likelihood of, or causes, harm; for example making, sending and receiving explicit images, or online bullying.

Staff will be equipped to provide the relevant information, advice and guidance to their pupils.

Cyberbullying is one of key identified areas today within Child Protection of peer-on-peer abuse. This course helps staff understand the current climate of cyberbullying and its ever evolving nature (including online self-harm), examines how to identify and support victims including vulnerable groups and approaches how to educate children and prevent incidents of cyberbullying.
